Comparative Study of Organisms in the Kingdom Animalia
Dissections
You will be doing a comparative anatomy study on the various organisms that you will be dissecting. The information that you discover will be done on a poster that you will be turning in on finals, is the following:
On all your organisms you need to give a brief description of the organism: What the organism is, what phylum does it belong to, what is the family and genus. A brief statement about the ecology of the organism, where does it live, how does it survive, what are some of the things it eats. Then a brief statement of why we study these organisms in a comparative anatomy purpose.
You will then chose two systems, respiratory, digestive, circulatory, etc., and briefly describe this system and it's function. On the different phylum's what makes up that system, how does it work, and how are they different from each other and how are they simular.

2nd Organism-Bull Frog
The following is a review of the dissection of the frog.
The following is a Teacher Guide, but I want you to know the anatomy so that you can identify it and relate it to the worm. So look at the anatomy of the worm and then that of the frog and start to compare it's anatomy. What are some similarities and what are some differences between the frog and the worm. Of course the frog is more complex than the worm, but the systems functions are similar, so find some of those. You can also you other resources to answer these questions.

Organism 3-Squid
The next organism you will be dissecting is a squid. You will probably be doing the dissection on your own, so make sure that you review the video before you do the dissection, then do the dissection. The first thing I have is the video on the dissection, then the worksheet on the dissection.

Organism 4-Rat
You will be dissecting the rat. Make note on the differences in the structures from Annelid, Amphibian and now Mammals. What is similar, what is different. These are what you need to note.
