Measurements
In science, taking accurate measurements are very important. The metric system is the measuring system that you need to know in science. In biotechnology, we use measurements that are very small, so you will need to familiarize yourself with these measurements too. We will be doing a series of measurement labs then we will go back and revisit genetics.
A good mnemonic to help you remember the basic metric conversion is:
King Henry Died Unexpectedly Drinking Chocolate Milk
Kilo Hecto Deka Unit Deci Centi Mili

Group Lab Assignment
You will have different lab stations where you will do various lab measurements. This is also a practice on using equipment and knowing which base unit, meters, liters, volume, grams, you should use when measuring. This assignment is due on Wednesday 1/20/16.

Individual Lab Assignment
You will also have an individual lab assignment. In this assignment there are various questions to answer. You need to justify your answers, so don't just answer no, or kilo, tell me why that is the answer. This assignment is due on Thursday 1/21/16.
Reading and Writing Assignment
Go back to the Genetics and Biotechnology section on the intro to biotech section of the website. Click on that and your Reading and Writing assignment will be at the bottom of that section.
